hey, media types: press release and more detailed information here.

Jonnie Spaceman and his Curious Theremin

Jonnie Spaceman and his Curious Theremin will be performing songs and demonstrating how someone plays a theremin. What's a theremin? It's one of the first electronic musical instruments (you'll recognize the sound from old scary and science fiction movies). The most unique feature of the theremin is that it is played without touching it! Jon plays his music by moving his hands through two electromagnetic fields (one for volume, one for pitch). Come and see!

The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble

The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is a funk & street beat brass band, playing New Orleans and other modern improvised celebratory music. They wear crazy costumes and play music that you can't help but dance to. Maybe you've heard their music on Sesame Street or seen them at the Cambridge River Festival, ArtBeat, the Central Square World's Fair, the Somerville Theater, First Night Boston, First Night Providence, First Night Fall River, or at a march with the Mayor through the streets of Cambridge.

Harry and the Potters

Harry and the Potters are a rock band who play nothing but music about the Harry Potter books. Did i mention they dress like Harry too? Paul dresses as "Harry, Year 7," and Joe as "Harry, Year 4." Want to hear a song about Quidditch? Or a song called "Gryffindor Rocks"? Then this is the band is for you.

UV Protection

What do smoke machines, working volcanoes, choregraphed dancers, and a group of talented women have in common? They all make up elements of UV Protection, a band that combines video projections, computer-sounding pop music, and elaborate costumes. The women of UV Protection have a very special, top secret show in store for the party.

The Humanimals

The Humanimals have escaped from the labs of Kendall Square to entertain us. Are they humans or animals? They're both, duh!
